“ Queensland climate in April ”

Hi, just wondering when the best time of year is to visit Queensland? We were thinking of starting it off in Cairns in April and spending 4 weeks in the state, heading south.. Im thinking that the Gold Coast might be okay at that time of year, but what about further up north?
