“ Quality homemade food near Ware? ”

Can anyone recommend a really good restaurant/pub serving excellent home-made dishes for lunch? We chose Ware as it is about halfway between Harpenden and Brentwood, Essex but any other would be welcome.

Nearby Saffron Walden/Audley End offers some pleasant opportunities to walk it off in lovely surroundings afterwards

Thankyou for your suggestions Pintpot. I had considered The Cricketers but as it was some years back that we ate there, wondered if it is still OK.. I'll take a look at both websites.
