“ Hired tour of Cashel or Blarney from Train Station ”

We will be taking a train from Dublin to Killarney and wonder is it is possible to stop along the way for short tours of Rock of Cashel or Blarney Castle. We don't want to drive. It seems that Thurles is close to the Rock of Cashel and Blarney is close to Mallow. Are there car hire companys that will pick you up at these train stations and give you a round trip tour toeach of these destinations. A car hire from Killarney will take a whole day. Seems we could save time by doing this, if it is possible.

What you want to do is doable. It is 10 miles from Thurles to Rock of cashel. A taxi would cost you about €25 each way. You could pre book this to meet you, take you to cashel and take you back two hours (or so) later. It may cost you more if you want the driver to wait for you, but you don't need to do that.

Mallow to Blarney Castle is 15 miles. €30 each way approx.

To be honest, you should choose one of these and not do both, you won't have time. By the way if you break your train journey you will need to get another ticket to continue it. For example if you want to get off at Thurles and then continue the trip later, you will need two tickets. One from Dublin to Thurles , a second from Thurles to Killarney.

Also be aware that not all trains on that route stop in Thurles.
