One night in Cashel.. where to stay?

Hi Guys,

My partner and I are spending just one night in Cashel on Sunday the 26th of September.

Being the OCD planner that I am I have spoken to lots of accommodation providers in Cashel to narrow it down to these available guesthouses:

1. Joy's Rock B&B

2. Ladyswell Guesthouse

These are both within budget.

We have traced our family history back to Cashel where my great, great, great, great, great grandfather was convicted and shipped to Australia where I'm from! We will not arrive into Cashel till around 7pm so any suggestions of where to eat/what to do would be great appreciated also. We plan on spending the next morning at the Rock before heading down to Blarney Castle

I should mention we are both in our late 20's I suppose!

I would greatly appreciate your feedback as to which accomodation you suggest we book into.

Thanks!

Here is what Yankeetravelr had to say about Joys. YankeeT, stayed there a month or two ago. It looks like she had a good time there.

"We stayed that evening at Joy’s Rockside House. The house itself is lovely, and better yet, is literally right at the base of the Rock of Cashel. The hostess, Joan, had given us a large, very pleasant room that looked right up at the Rock – a great view! We weren’t very hungry, so after a quick stroll through town we dined on our extra scones, and tucked ourselves in for the night.

Day 7 (July 19): We rose early in order to be at the Rock of Cashel right when it opened. Breakfast was served in a cute, bright room on the ground floor – mom had pancakes, I decided on fruit, yogurt and toast. We were at the entrance to the Rock at 9am sharp, which was very nice as we managed to (mostly) avoid any crowds or tour buses. We wandered around for about an hour, and then walked back to our car and hit the road, heading north"

We stayed at Joy's last year and the setting is fantastic. You see the rock from your bedroom window, The hosts are lovely and the house is spotless.

They also know a lot about local history. I would definately stay there. They can tell you where to eat. We followed there suggestion and had one of the best meals we had in all of Ireland.

bindy,

Bryno has already done the hard work for me by posting my comments on Joy's Rockside. I will, however, chime in and give it two thumbs up. It was one of our favorite stops during our trip. The hosts are friendly and informative, the home is impeccable and pretty, the neighborhood is quiet, and the breakfast plentiful and tasty. Can't find a single bad thing to say about it (if pressed, I guess I would say that the walls are a little thin between the bedrooms - the folks next to us had a baby, but since they took him down to the lounge when he started fussing, we didn't notice). I highly recommend it.
