Yes the hotel is on Sandown sea front or esplanade.

We would never stay at this hotel again.

We saw a waiter wiping knives with his spittle before setting them out and our room had bed bugs.

We had booked afive day break and had no choice but to book

out the next day.

The hotel have not sent a lettet of apology of telephoned us.

Over all experience of hotel and Sandown, Awful!

I would never recommend this hotel

I cannot recommend it to friends and family who visit from the mainland. Friends who have stayed there (without consulting usfirst) did not like the shabby rooms and portion controlled food!

As locals we have visited for a drink in the evening and could not get out quick enough.

It needs investment and refurbishment. A shame really as this make the resort look bad.

At the end of the day what do you expect from a hotel with no star rating!,..no.allocated parking.....and during peak season is really cheap as hotel!.....way to often people come to hotels looking at the advertisement believing every thing they read or see! Seriously lets be real...As for portion controlling most big hotels have them ...think about it if you have 210 people eating and your running a business here... would you really want to be loosing all you money through people asking for 6 toast racks etc on a table of four people.! Also I have seen people do worse things in hotel an restaurants that wiping down cutlery with their breath…and as for bed bugs well lets just say don’t expect shabbiness just from poor rated foreign hotels after all it was the isle of Wight in Sandown what else were you expecting? If you want a four or 5 star hotel then next time go and book one!

I have family that stay at The Carlton Hotel, Sandown and have done for years.

Yes, it does cater mainly for coaches, but my family are treated so well that they would never go anywhere else on the island.

The staff are second to none and nothing is too much trouble.

My fanily have met similar guests that go 3 - 5 times every year and have nothing but praise.

How anyone can say that it is shabby and in need of a refurb is beyond me, Have you seen the other hotels in Sandown - The Carlton is way above the rest and so much more modern in the decor.

I would recommend the hotel to friends and family.

We stayed at the Carlton Hotel, the ground floor was fine but the bedroom we stayed in was realy bad.

The room was tiny more suited to a single room,2 single beds the matresses were appalingly worn out,a shower room that was in dire need of decoration, shower cubicle had dirty cracked tiles and

a dirty rusted shower head, peeling walpaper from past leak on ceiling and a toilet that you could only sit on sideways as the sink was in the way.

And to cap it all we had a visit two nights running from what appeared to be ghost in the night although I must say she prefered my husband to me,( much to my relief),has anyone else experienced a visit from her when staying at the hotel.Apart from our room our stay was enjoyable.
