Get your quick guide to the top hotels, restaurants and things to do.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a hotel/guest house/b&b that could accomodate up to 20 people (approx. 8 couples and 2 singles), all adults? Proposing to stay for a 3 night weekend break either late April or early May.
Most of the hotels in Sandown will accommodate your party. We have been going to Sandown for a number years and found that most hotels are still stuck in the 60s with decor etc. There are a number of hotels that have great sea views in Sandown but their fronts back onto a busy main road. So booking a seaview for me would be essential. Two Hotels we tend to go for are either the Sandringham or the Ocean Hotel. The Sandringham seaviews have balconies and the rooms seem to be similar and are a litttle more up todate. The Ocean hotel, the rooms are not all of the same standard and some of your party may be disappointed. We stayed at the Ocean this year please see my photos and report along with the others. Pensioners in coach parties do use the Ocean and probably do not complain enough as others have suggested. We prefer the Sandringham but they were full. What are your party's needs views, luxury,entertainment?
Thankyou for your recommendations. We're looking for somewhere that has a lounge that will seat all 16-20 of us (depending on final figures), has car parking facilities and is preferably modern/up to date!

In our opinion I would think the Sandringham is about best in Sandown to suit those needs, they have a car park to rent at £2 a day (2004 prices) just 5mins down the road, in addition to the car park you fight for at the front . Exellent sea views (extra but worth it) but the balconies are a shared (not partitioned).
It has a bar with large lounge, fairly reasonable standard seaside food.
The rooms of reasonable decoration I guess 70/80s.
The best we have found so far in Sandown.
For real luxury you may have to move away from Sandown.
PS A lot of the Hotels will pay you car ferry if you stay with them.
Try any of the Warner type hotels. either Norton Grange or Bembridge Coast Hotel .
if you want a hotel package try Priory Bay hotel Seaview or Lakeside spa Hotel Wotton .
