Cyprus forum Hi, We want to go to Cyprus this year in May. Have been looking at reviews and it seems that Limassol and Paphos are the main resorts but don't know which to go for.
I am taking my mum for her birthday, we like a lively type of resort, nice hotel, entertainment and interesting excursions and markets and shopping but are not really into culture.
Would be grateful for any recommendations.

Hi, if you like good beaches have a look at Pernera/ protaras/ayia napa or larnaca on the eastern side of the island they are all lively. .Cyprus doe,s not offer a great lot in the way of markets, there is one in.Paphos Limassol and larnaca, but they are not that big.maybe you would enjoy an excursion to the troodos mountains, for shopping maybe visit Limassol or Nicosia. hi we have stayed at both limassol and paphos.
our personal preference is paphos as more to offer.
for shops bars and restrurants
Hi, I would not agree that Paphos has more to offer for shops bars-restaurants,there are loads of restaurants-bars around the castle area, a load more in the tourist area. then you have the four seasons area. and further along there are restaurants between the Elias beach and Le-Meridian. I prefer Limassol to Paphos for shopping. also there is the town centre Limassol coast road is so long and everything is spread out a bit ,with so many turnings off it is easy to miss things.Julie

i think we all have our own personal views , i must confess only been to limassol once , but phaphos a lot ,and may have missed a lot in limassol.
this is why this site is great as it gives lots of different points of view.
as with any trip i do alot of research when going to a new area .
i think it all depends on waht you are looking for.
