 Cyprus trip in March

Hey

We are two couples planning to head to Cyprus for the first time hence were looking for some tips and ideas. We land in Larnaca on 22nd March for 8 days and plan to visit the following

1- Larnaca

2- Nicosia

3- Phaphos

4- Trodoos

5- Kyrenia

We will be hiring a car and are mostly interested in sightseeing , soaking up the culture and a bit (tiny bit!) of beaches :)

Would really appreciate if we can get some help on where to base ourselves? Having a car, we're looking for something cosy and comfortable and dont want to spend unnecessarily on staying somewhere extravagant. Plus self catering accomodations are a big No. Usually some breakfast before we head out for the day.

Also does the itinerary seem too ambitious for 8 day trip?

Would it be necessary to get a trip separately arranged through the local agents if we want to enjoy the Trodoos? If so, how to arrange one

I understand that there are too many questions i've asked in mail. Thanks a lot for your help

Hi,I would stay in Limassol for the first few days, paphos is only a 45. minute drive from there, you could drive to to Klossi Castle, approx 9 km, from Limassol, kourion ruins 12km on route to Paphos, maybe stop to see Aphroditi rock, about half way between Limassol-Paphos .

Another day you could drive up into the Troodos, approx 1hour drive.

After Limassol, I would make Larnaca your base , from there you can get to Nicosia, and Kyrenia.

In Limassol you could try the Golden Arches hotel, it comes up at a reasonable price on travel republic,

In Larnaca you could try the Livisthois, just a few minutes walk from the lovely promenade-beach, please do not worry about too many questions, it is your holiday, and there is usually someone on this forum that can help.

Don,t forget to let the car hire firm know that you are going to the north, you will need to take out extra insurance, you can do this at the border.and remember to take your passports with you when you visit Kyrenia.

You can see all on the list in eight days. Julie

Thanks a lot for sketching it out so nicely for us. Love the idea for breaking the stay between south and central cyprus.Wouldvdefnitely stick to that?

However when i looked up the accomodations in phaphos they seemed a lot better for the price they charge. How would it be living in phaphos i.e. How is different from limmasol in terms of city life/facilities available/accessibility via a car to the sightseeing spots etc

Plus any recommendations for places to stay paphos will also be great help. I was looking at a hill top appartmnts (listed on thr trip advisor) they seem pretty decent.

Keeping in view the places we intend to visit what would be an ideal split of stay b/w limmasol and larnaca...i.e. How many nights at each of these two places

Thanks

Hi, there is no reason not to stay in Paphos, I only suggested Limassol because it is closer to Larnaca, and being centre of the island it is a good base for getting about. if you don,t mind a one and a half hour drive Paphos is a nice place to stay.

Limassol is a large. town the 16km coastline is one straight road .

Paphos also has a lovely coastline stretching out to coral bay, but instead of bring straight it curves out. you can easily drive to troodos, and other villages from paphos, also up to polis-latchi and baths of Aphrodite.

if you choose to stay in paphos, no need to stay in Limassol unless you really want to. you could stop off there on the way back to Larnaca.

I have not stayed at the hilltop but I have spoken to people that have enjoyed it there.

whichever two resorts you choose I would spend half the time in one resort,

the remaining time in the other,it will give you a bit of time to relax in-between sight seeing without packing-un packing all the time.Julie

sorry I should have added both Limassol-paphos have easy access to the places you wish to visit the roads are well signposted . both places you are spoilt for choice for eating out.

paphos may be a little quieter than Limassol in march but that can be a good thing when visiting places, you can take pics in peace without the back of someone's head in the way you see the beauty spots at their best.Julie

Hi,I am sorry I spelt the name of the hotel wrong. it is the Livadhiotis.another one that you could try is the sun hall, in Larnaca. it is right on the promenade, it mabe a bit more expensive, it reopened last summer after renovation, it is lovely.

For a hotel in Nicosia, look on the nicosia forum and send harris halk the DE for that area a private message, I am sure you will get some help there.

Hotels will more than likely be more expensive in the capital, I am not to sure of hotel locations there, I have only been there a few times sightseeing or shopping.Julie
