We are arriving at Lisbon airport and traveling to Albuferia by train. What is the closest train station to the airport?

Lisbon Oriente - about 5 minutes in a taxi, 10 minutes by bus 44 or Aerobus,

All the Albufeira trains stop at Oriente.

PS I trust you know Albufeira station is 4 miles/6km from the town. Taxis are always waiting.

Are there any plans to connect the airport to the metro system?

Could have saved us going from Baixa/Chiado to catch our return flight.

However, I must say Lisboa taxi system and most drivers are excellent, although I think we had Sterling Moss for our driver last time to airport.

Hopefully not due to taxi company lobbying. Tourists who can afford it will most likely continue to opt for taxis while the rest of us poor penny-pinchers will welcome the arrival of the metro!
