I am looking to plan a girls long weekend in late April to go to antique stores, markets and auctions. Four lady friends. Any advice on apart-hotels, markets or auctions and places to eat?

Interested in Antwerp?
We'll send you updates with the latest deals, reviews and articles for Antwerp each week.
There's a friday market (vrijdagsmart from 8h30 or 9 am) auctioning all kinds of stuff that was confiscated for some or another reason.
Sunday morning there is a market on Sınt-Jansvliet from where you can continue to the streets Oever and Kloosterstraat, where shops are open on sundays.
Some renknowned antique traders are in the area around Leopoldstraat/Sınt-Jorispoort, where you can also find 'kringloopwinkel' a recyclestore whıch hides some treasures once in a while...
And in a parking building at oudevaartplaats there is the 'sjacherbeurs' on sundays, on the square in front of this building there will be 'vogeltjesmarkt', which can be very very crowded.
Apparently there is an antique market on saturdays at lijnwaadmarkt, but if it is what İ think it is, İt's not very much worth mentioning.
Here's a link of the cıty of Antwerp website... google translate might help ;-) antwerpen.be/eCache/ABE/19/175.Y29udGV4dD04M…
In the area that Fototrotter described are lots of places were you can go to eat and drink....
Any hotel in the centrum will do. The antique-area is in the absolute centrum of the town near to the river. So most hotels in the town center are on walking distance. Or you can get a card for the trams/busses of De Lijn. Public transport is very easy and cheap here.
On Sundays the antique shops along Kloosterstraat (full of antique & curiosa shops) and Hoogstraat are open.
You can download an app for your smartphone on www.thisisantwerp.be on which locals provide tips/addresses.
Thank you all so much. Will be booking a trip, drive over via eurotunnel so I can hopefully buy lots of lovely items.
