“ Yarn shops? ”

Good day to all.

I love to knit and would like to visit some yarn shops in Antwerp. Would anyone have some suggestions for good shops selling knitting yarns? Is knitting popular in Belgium?

I should mention that I'm familiar with shops like Pipoos and other shops that sell a few types of very basic yarn (Wibra, Zeemans, Blokker and such). What I am looking for is a shop that is dedicated to selling mostly yarn and related supplies. Or maybe a large department style shop (something similar to the German Kaufhof?) that has a big haberdashery department. I will not have much time, unfortunately, so the closer to the Central train station the better. I've been to the city several times, so I have a general idea of the geography.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi, I don't know much about either Antwerp or knitting,

but "Breien" is the Dutch word for knitting and "winkel" is for shop.

Adding them to "Antwerp", I got this;

It looks like a "hobbywinkel" is what you're looking to find.

Perhaps I should also have mentioned that I'm currently living in The Hague and that I'm looking more for personal experience or knowledge of a shop, rather than only what an internet search would give me. (I did indeed do some internet searching of my own before posting the question.) Most hobbywinkels do not offer the range of yarn I'm interested in. I really do need a more specialized yarn shop.

I genuinely appreciate you taking the time to try and help me and I'm sorry my original message didn't seem to have quite enough detail.

The only shop I know is the Veritas on the Meir, about 10 minutes walk from the Central Station. But if you need special stuff it is maybe not interesting enough for you....

And I know there ıs an organisation that knits scarfs and auctions them for good causes, HIV research, if I'm not mıstaken... Maybe you can contact the organizing www.hetrozehuıs.be and ask if they can help you.
