 3 - 4 days in Amsterdam...

Hey guys,

I'm planning to take my boyfriend to Amsterdam for a couple days after our trip to Paris.

We will be catching the train from Paris to Amsterdam and I plan to get on of those I Amsterdam cards.

My BF insists on going to the Heinekin Experience and Tattoo Museum, but I would also like to visit the Amsterdam Museum, The Anne Frank house, Van Gogh museum, Museum of Bags and Purses and of course the Red Light District.

I don't know much about Amsterdam actually when I hear The Netherlands I think Windmills and Tulips lol!

Any other suggestions as to what to see would be great!

Love history, art and quirky stuff.

Cheers

I would skip the Heineken, not worth the time or money. Instead head to Amsterdam Oost and visit Brouwerij 't IJ. They offer tours on the weekends and they have a very happening bar. http://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/ It also housed under a windmill so great for pics. I would also add a canal boat tour to your itinerary. There are several the leave from outside Centraal Station. If you cross the road you can find a couple of cheaper options. Other than that you have covered most of the basics.

Peace

Hi DarkScarlett,

Depending on the time of year, it might be nice to have a picnic in Vondel Park and watch the world go by. For quirky, the Nine Streets area has some pretty cool shops. It's also quite an "experience" to explore some of the souvenir shops.

You'll have a great time.

Accross the road from the Van Gough museum is the House of Bols, a small interactive experience/museum where at the end you get to sample a cocktail or two! A nice 'side trip' to the VG and just accross the road - may be an alternative to the Heiniken for you both.

When at the Amsterdam Museum, you must spend a few extra minutes to visit De Begijnhof, which is litterally around the corner from the museum. The museum also has a nice cafe.

Totally agree with the Brouwerij 't ij, although I have not been yet myself it is high on my list of to do activities - if you do go, could you perhaps do me a favour? I am a wheelchair user and would like info on accessibility to the pub/brewery, if you could give me some feed back I would be very grateful.

Enjoy your trip :)

Thank You for all your suggestions guys!

We'll be going late September, maybe even early October.

The Brouwerij 't IJ sounds like a much better plan then Heinekien! (I'd read the reviews and wasn't so keen on it..

A Canal boat ride sounds good too!

Probably won't do much shopping (As much as I'd love to) as a photographer I'll probably be taking way too many photos as always lol!!!
