Umbria Forum: Which car to rent?

We will also be renting a car in Rome to take up to Tuscany and then to Varenna and returning it at Malpensa. There will be four of us for much of the trip. From past experience I know that the smaller the car the easier it will be to maneuver and park when we get to the little towns. But I also want to be able to get our 4 carry-ons and backpacks into the car without us having to sit on them. The problem is that I don't recognize the cars that the rental sites are featuring. For example, the Lancia Delta and Peugeot 207 and Fiat Grande Punto.

Does anyone know if there is enough space in the boot for 4 bags? The rental car pages say that they hold 5 passengers and 2 bags.
