“ Looking for recommendation for car rental in Venice ”

After arriving in Venice and spending three nights in Venice, we will be spending six nights around the Veneto, returning for our last night to Marco Polo Airport. I assume that we would be picking up the car at the Venice carpark or in Mestre or some other close-by area, and then returning the car to the Marco Polo airport. What are the best options for car rental? What are the recommended companies? Which companies to stay away from?

Pick up the car from Piazzale Roma. This is at the end of the road into Venice, and it is easy to drive straight onto the bridge to the mainland.

AutoEurope is an agency that arranges cheap rentals with the major companies. The UK site is sometimes cheaper than the US one, so check out both www.autoeurope.com and www.auto-europe.co.uk

So if I am going to rent a car after leaving Venice, am I better off to rent it at Marco Polo airport and then return it there or go to Piazzale Roma?

If you are then flying out of Marco Polo the I would pick up at Piazzale Roma and dropoff at teh airport.

No: both are Venice locations. In any case, one-way charges within Italy are either small or nil.
