“ Good Ice Cream Next to the Alhambra? ”

Hello,

I've been reading about this really good ice cream place just outside the Alhambra, to the point where Rick Steves and Michelle Obama have raved about it or visited there. Specifically, I saw this article:

"Before entering the cavernous church, they tried to beat the blazing heat of the Andalusia region by stopping at a well-known ice cream parlor across the street (from the Alhambra)."

However, I can't find a name for this ice cream place. Does anyone know what this place is? Please let me know. Thanks.

Eh Benny, you do know that "la heladeria" simply means ice cream shop (store).

In the 20 minutos article it refers to it as "la italiana" this incorrect. The name of the place that you are talking about is "Los Italianos" http://bit.ly/wS4z0X

This is by far the most famous ice cream shop in Granada and it is located directly opposite the Cathedral (not the alhambra) and it is where Michelle Obama stopped. It is on Gran Vía de Colon.

While it is the most famous "Los Italianos" does close during the Winter. It closed on 31st October and I believe it will reopen some time in March possibly the 1st of March but more likely 21st of March (Día de la Primavera). But I am not sure of that.

It might be open and it is right in the centre of Granada across the road from the cathedral, on Gran Vía, so it is easy to have a look and see if it is open. But I would say that it is still a little bit cold this time of year to be having ice-creams, well it is too cold for me anyway.
