 Weather on the coast

It is now -8C in Granada. I have escaped to the coast where the winter temperature is a very cold 9C.

I have been for some great walks in the mountains above Almuñecar.

Here is a tip:

There is a zoo above Almuñecar. called the Peña Escrita.

It has lions, wolves, a hippo, zebra etc

At the moment it is free to get in.

Just take the cabra road from Granada.

How long does it take from Granada to that zoo in Almuñecar?

Peña Escrita is the name of the zoo or the town´s name?

If you take the Cabra road which is a very bendy road with amazing views it would take about 70 minutes from Granada.

The cabra road starts about 10km south of Granada.

You can see a road with a signpost to Otivar from the main motorway down to the coast.

The turning is opposite a flamenco place called the Venta Luciano

If you take the motorway it would also take about the same.

Peña Escrita is the name of the Zoo.

Although it is only about 5km from the sea it is about 1000 metres high.

It is very cold at the moment.

The hippo must wonder what is happening although the wolves will be at home.

The zoo was the favourite project of the allegedly corrupt ex-mayor of Almuñecar Benavides.

The new administration will probably let it run down.

Nobody is even bothering to charge to get in.

It will probably close soon.

It would make an interesting excursion from Granada.

5km from the sea and 1000 metres high?!

It must be an amazing place...

I don´t know if I´ll have time, but I´ll try.

Thank you so much, Steven!
