there are daily direct connection from Basel to Kassel-Wilhelmshoehe too. as mentioned by the earlier poster, check out http://www.bahn.de and you should be able to find possible connections from Basel to Kassel.

if there is anything you don understand on the bahn.de site, post it here. I have taken a while until i actually can understand fully :)

Not sure whether this post is still valid. I am now finalizing the trip and came back to this forum.

Wondering how long is the drive from Kassel to Munster? or Kassel to Berlin?

if you plan to drive, try maps.google.com or map24.com to plan your route. They will usually tell you how far are the two cities, and how long it might take (estimation, of course).
