 Monday and Renovations

I will be in Kassel on a Monday by mid October. I've been looking over the sights in the net and was interested in going to the Old Masters Museum of Wilhelmshohe but i see that most museums are closed on mon =( Brothers grimm also under renovation.

Can anyone suggest other places i can visit in Kassel? I'll be staying in pentahotel and will rely on walking/public transport. I'm not keen on going out of Kassel and I like walking around town.

Any suggestions?

Yes, museums and hairdressers have their day off on Monday...

Waether permitting, an interesting option would be Wilhelmshöhe park, the English landscape garden on the hillside above the palace, with the Herkules statue on top and all those little buildings in the park and the view of the town and surrounding landscape. There is a bus line that takes you to the top behind Herkules (don't ask me which, one, it has been years) so you can walk down from there instead of climbing up the entire hill.

The park is always open and free to access. The museums in the palace, Löwenburg and the viewing platform on the Herkules monument are closed on Mondays. But the buildings are most impressive from the outside anyway, so it is worth going.

Pack swimwear: After the walk in the park you can rest your tired legs in the thermal spa of Wilhelmshöhe, a few minutes downhill from the palace.
