Is Pforzheim just a place for jewelry schools and museums or are there also good places to buy quality gold jewelry? Is there anywhere else in Germany that I should consider a trip to for quality gold jewelry?

Idar-Oberstein is the other jewel center in Germany but with a concentration on gemstones rather than gold. The shops there
sell both gold and precious stone jewelry however I think the prices
are often too high. Any of the major cities have jewelers but Pforzheim and Idar Oberstein are where I would start.
