A shower in Paris after flying round the world!
Save

My husband and I are arriving at CDG Paris from Australia in the early morning before flying out to Biarritz in mid-afternoon.

We know Paris very well but not the answer to this question! We need/want to have a shower and freshen up after flying for 21+ hours before we rush into Paris for a nice lunch before our next flight.

We are no longer members of an airline lounge scheme ( and I don't think they operate on the inward side of airports anyway??). Is there anywhere (that is not too dodgy) where we can have a shower to re-humanize ourselves - at the airport or elsewhere in Paris??

Thanks in anticipation.

Get a day room at the Sheraton in terminal 2.

If you take the RER to Gare du Nord, there is a "McClean" on the metro level which offers shower facilities. There are also lockers at Gare du Nord if you want to store baggage for the day.

How long do you have between arrival and departure and is your luggage checked through? There have been many posts about the minimum time required to get into Paris and back.

Plenty of time.

Arrive at 7am at CDG; fly out of Orly at 3pm.

I have read in the past that you might be able to arrange a 'day room' at the Ibis hotel at CDG....

Or, after confirming that a given airline lounge offers showers, you can buy a day pass for the use of the lounge. They sell on eBay all day long...

Somebody who is going to Orly later in the day will probably not want a day room at CDG!

Here's the website of the Swiss owned McClean place at Gare du Nord: http://www.mcclean.ch/html/

Thanks everyone.

Don't want a DAY room for the DAY...just for a shower and if that is the only way to get it we will gladly buy a day room.. but not for 155 euro!

Would like to hear from anyone who has actually used the showers at the McClean centre at Gare du Nord.

In all honesty, I really do not think that you are going to have time for A "nice lunch," in Paris following your arrival at CDG at 7 AM, since your continuing flight is out of Orly, and leaves at 3 PM.

Your problems include the fact that you have to allow time to get off the plane, and go through customs - hopefully, you will not have to take your bags through Customs and then re-check them in with another carrier.

Also, even if you next destination is within France, you still have to arrive at Orly early enough to get through the entire check-in process again, and with a departure time of 3 PM, it just doesn't sound like you have time to go into Paris and enjoy a "nice lunch."

Thanks for all your input, travellers!

Last year when we flew in on the same flight, we were very happy to be through Customs/baggage claim so quickly..especially given some past not-so-good experiences at CDG. So... we're just going to play it by ear as to how much time we have to do more than just transit from one airport to another.

That said, we will continue the search for a shower; the airport by the day/hour hotels seem to be the answer. I have emailed a couple of them. So we will see what happens.
