Paris Forum: Apartment rental in Paris - help!

I did some research into rental companies and posted a thread recently to get other people's feedback. Feel free to check it out

The Marais - 4th arr - is my favourite area to stay when renting in Paris. I love the atmosphere - the St Paul area in particular. I have rented terrific apartments through the homelidays website.

I like the 14th, but with kids , might choose to stay in the 6th,, you can walk to alot of sights, and Luxembourg Gardens are great for kids. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the 14 th though.

There are many reputable agencies, do a check on this site, I am using Parisbestlodge,, but there are about 5-6 other well reviewed companies here. I prefer ones that do not require a huge up front deposit,, and I am leary of some of the VRBO ,,some have had great expereinces with individual ones, but its the "by owner" that bugs me,,, so if I chose one it would be a specific apartment someone here stayed at and recommended.

We stayed in the 14th on our first trip, with our kids who were 8 and 10 at the time. Loved it! We were only a block or so from the metro stop, so it was very easy to get everywhere. We have stayed in other arrondisments on other trips, and then last summer stayed in the 14th again. I am sold on it, personally.
