Days in Europe --> paris Venice, Florence, Rome, and Barcelo

Hi,

I will be in Paris at 12noon on 7/4 . I plan to stay in Paris for 3 nights then take overnight train to Venice. I will train for the rest of the trip venice --> florence ---> rome. I'm still looking at option direct train to barcelona, over night ferry, or flying.

how does 2 nights in venice, 3 nights in florence, 3 nights to rome, and 3 nights in Barcelona???

I heard there's a lot to see in Rome, so I'm thinking of giving it 4 nights.. which meant i will have reduce time venice or barcelona.

Thanks for your recommendations.

Destination Expert   What's this?

Paris-Venice-Florence-Rome makes sense even if a bit rushed, trying to squeeze in Barcelona on top is definitely too much. Ferry Rome-Barcelona takes 19hrs., a night and a day.

I don't see that you have a choice.

two nights is one day -- three nights is two days -- WAY too little time in major cities like these. with places so distant you should be flying and not wasting whole days on trains - check out Easyjet and Vueling for flights

and yes cut at least one stop and add the days to Paris and Rome or Florence

you need more time in Paris, because it is Paris and cannot be done in two days but that is also your jet lag period so the day after arrival you will not be at your best

Too many places. IMO you should drop at least one, maybe two cities out. Do Paris-Venice-Florence-Barcelona, or Par-Flor-Rome-Bar. Or just choose one city for each country. With two weeks you can also spend that in Paris and south of France and then head to Barcelona. The cost of trains and internal flights to all the places will add up quickly.

Or if you are counting cities/countries, from Paris to London is easy. London is a great city too. Then head to BCN.

tight fit, but in my one trip to Europe we did very similar... Paris 2, Venice 2, Florence 3, Rome 3 and enjoyed every day in each city, even if much of it was rushed.

Having done two in Venice, three in Rome, I wouldn't suggest trimming Venice down to a single night. Roma does have more than you can see in three or four days, but you can still see and do a lot in 72 hours. And Venice is cool enough that the second night gives you time to see sites but also just slow down and spend a day relaxing by hopping on and off vaparettos, stopping anywhere that looks interesting.

in planning our upcoming trip we trimmed to there cities in 10 days (Munich 3, Paris 4, Amsterdam 3) as we can slow the pace a tad.

Thanks all for your responses.

I was able to call "cheapoair" and reschedule my flight w/o a charge. In fact, I'm getting $190 refund.

So I will be in Paris 7/4 1pm and flying out of Paris on 7/22 Sunday at 2:30pm...

Give me more time in Europe.... Now I have to re-route my plan and I need help!...

I can still spending 3-4 nights in Paris, then either head to Venice or Barcelona in a circle. I'm not sure which way to go about... I know there's an express train paris to barcelona and there's an over night train from venice to paris.... eitherway I want to be back to Paris on 7/22 AM to catch my flight at 2:30pm...

Please any suggestion will help!

I think Italy is a trip unto itself. I spent 2 weeks seeing the cities you mention there.

Paris and Barcelona would be terrific for 2 weeks. (These are my two fave European cites.)

However since you have bought your ticket I would do only 2 nights in Florence (just enough to see the major museums). I like Venice and Rome much more for wandering on foot.

So total trip is how long,, confused,

I will count trip as July 5 th to 21st . I never count arrival or departure days.

So that leaves you 16 full days.

Paris-4-5 days ( if 5, consider a daytrip to Versailles ,Monets Gardens in Giverny, Riems, or Chartes)

fly to Rome, Veuling or Easyjet

Rome 4-5 days( why not daytrip to Pompeii, its apparently a LONG day but would be worth it to some)

IF not, perhaps cut Rome to 3-4 days and train to Venice for 2 nights( which even after two visits I think is enough) , then continue on by flying

Fly to Barcelona ( 3-4 days)

return to Paris

Seems like you could get most of tyour wish list in,, but do look at cheap airlines, Easyjet and Vueling are decent,, as long as you READ THE FINE PRINT about LUGGAGE. They are strict. They mean one carry on,, not a purse and a carry on etc.

I would definitely cut out Italy, which I understand is incredibly hard to do. But I would really suggest sticking to just two countries. You could spend months just doing Paris, Barcelona, and everything in between. I would either split your time between Paris and Barcelona, with a flight/train between the two. Or start in Paris for 6 days, then pick a destination between Paris and Barcelona (French Riviera?) for 4 days, then Barcelona for 6 days, and then back to Paris to fly out. Don't forget that you can choose three places as bases and then do some daytrips if you really need to--although there is so much to see in Paris and Barcelona!

Good luck.
