 Lebara Sim Card

Per the advice on here, I ordered 2 Lebara sim cards on August 11th. I received an email right away with the phone number but haven't received the actual sim cards yet. I didn't list USA on the address so I'm wondering if I should order more?

Would I be able to buy these in Germany if they don't arrive by mid-September? I'm flying into Frankfurt.

Why not just respond to the e-mail you received with the information that you inadvertently omitted USA when completing the address fields?

Be patient.

It took 3 weeks to receive my requested SIM. I would not make multiple order for free SIMs. If do not receive your SIMs before mid September, you can easily purchase them in France, (they are sold at any magazine store or tabac). A Lebara SIM will cost 10€ which includes 7.50€ talk time credit.

Thank you very much Julie for your reply! It was very helpful. So, if my first stop was a hotel in Baden Baden would it be possible to have it sent there? Also my family and I have 3 phones total so we would need 3 sim cards (I know there is a limit of 2).

Please advise. Thank you.

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question: can I buy the Lebara SIM card in Paris as suggested and replace my current AT&T phone with the new SIM card and use it in France with a new phone number that is attached to the Lebara SIM card?

I was entertaining doing the AT&T world traveler plan but the expense is ridiculous with roaming charges and minute charges not to mention I would have to pay international fees for texts that I couldn't keep from coming in on my phone while I'm in Paris.

Hi Julie954 ,

I have received my Lebara sim card in Australia, which I was greatful for as we will be in Paris for a week in October. My slight dilemma is, how do I activate it when we arrive?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

PomPerth, as I understand it, you can just go on their website and activate it just before you leave home. If it hasn't already expired, you'll be good to go once in Paris.

@wegs3000

Your AT&T phone must be unlocked before you can use a Lebara - or any other - SIM. Also - the US and France use different frequencies- so your phone must be a world phone and support the French.

There are lots of threads about unlocked phones and alternatives to use when travelling..

If your phone is not unlocked - check with AT&T to see if they will unlock it for you. Using a local SIM will definitely be cheaper than the plan you talk about. Also with a Lebara SIM all incoming calls are free to the receiver.

Or alternately you can either buy an unlocked phone in the US or buy a cheap phone once you get to Paris.
