 Flea Markets, low end antiques

My husband and I are going to Dublin March 12-15 2012 and are interested in checking out flea markets, charity shops and lower end antique shops. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Head up around the Francis Street area of Dublin.

On the way you can see Christ Church and St. Patricks Cathedral and maybe even squeeze in a visit to the Guinness Storehouse, all in the same area.

There are a number of charity shops between Camden St and South Great Georges St in Dublin 2. There are also a few on Capel St in Dublin 1. There is a a bric-a-brac type shop on Eden Quay in Dublin 1

The Oxfam shop on Francis Street, might be good for a bargain. Also try Herman & Wilkinson auction rooms in Rathmines. If you see something nice you may leave a proxy.

I would agree with the others, Francis street is teaming with antique shops, all of which are real gems! Also the Dublin Auction Rooms in Merchants Yard near the O2, the docklands, convention centre etc. have really great antique furniture and knick knacks. Some of their stuff is a bit naff but the majority is very good quality stuff, some in need of a bit of tlc, like a beautiful wingback chair I bought for 20euro and reupholstered and is now looking lovely!!!!!

Sorry its not a hyperlink! And also don't be put off by the outside of the Dublin Auction Rooms.... as it is in a warehouse style building!!

Enjoy antique hunting,

Nice to hear something good about Merchants Yard, I always thought it would be a cheap, car boot sale type place. I must check it out now!
