 Dublin and the Irish Countryside

I am traveling to Ireland in early April with my wife for a few days. We land in Dublin real early on Thursday morning (5am) and leave Dublin Monday afternoon (2:45).

Our goal for this trip is two-fold: enjoy the city of Dublin and its sightseeing/culture/pubs and experience the Irish countryside. Due to time constraints I believe we will not have enough time to reach the west coast (I really want to see Dingle). Would anyone mind offering advice on how to best achieve my goal?

Should I do a simple day trip excursion (or two) to Wicklow or Newgrange and sleep in Dublin every night? Or should I spend only two nights Dublin and do an overnight or two elsewhere?

We enjoy experiencing culture/exploring/environmental beauty by day and would like to mix it up with the locals at nearby pubs every night. Our budget is not of chief concern but rather want to immerse ourselves in Ireland as best we can on such a short trip.

I should add this is for my wife’s surprise 30th bday.

Many thanks in advance for your help. I can answer any questions that you may have if the above is not detailed enough.

Hi

Newgrange is an easy day trip from Dublin;

Wicklow is possible for a day but you could also stay overnight.

My recommendation would be to stay in a nice place in Dublin, do Newgrange for the day , get up early one day and "do" the Dublin/Wicklow mountains taking in Powerscourt house ( for lunch?) and Glendalough.
