 Intinerary evaluation?

We will be in Dublin for a week in April (middle aged couple and adult son). This is our tentative itinerary. Have tried to balance free time for exploring with specific destinations. I would appreciate any feedback/suggestions! Thanks!

Sunday: Arrive Dublin, (Maldron Parnell Square), HOHO to get our bearings

Monday: HOHO bus to Kilmainhaim Gaol, National Collins Barracks, Guinness Storehouse. Literary Pub Crawl in evening.

Tuesday: Historical Walking Tour, Trinity College/Book of Kells, Chester Beatty Library.

Wednesday: Over the Top Tours Wicklow Tour

Thursday: Explore Grafton Street, National Museum of Ireland. Musical Pub Craw in evening.

Friday: Day trip to Kilkenny (train)

Saturday: Howth? Zoo? Natural History Museum?

Sunday: fly home.

Is there something tying you to Dublin for the entire stay? I'd consider an overnight trip, maybe Belfast or Galway, just to see a bit more of things.

There seems to be so much to see in Dublin, we haven't really felt the need to look at other cities, though we have talked about a day trip to Belfast. Maybe we will take a second look. I know people often comment on here that a few days is enough to "do" Dublin, but we have found so many places that look interesting to us, a full week seemed appropriate. Thanks for responding!

I think your itinerary looks good, it's not too jam packed. I suppose you could fit in Belfast if you really felt the need. I think if there was one place you should try to fit in then that would be Newgrange.

Not sure why I didn't include Newgrange. Just trying not to over plan the trip, which is my inclination. I'll see if my guys are interested. (I make all the plans, they come along for the ride!) Thanks for the feedback!

I would definitely reccomend you visit Dun Laoighaire and Dalkey, both of which are in Dublin and are seaside/coastal places. They are really beautiful and its nice to walk along the pier in Dun Laoighaire and get a classic "Teddys" ice cream afterwards! Dalkey especially has some lovely shops and cafes to visit. The DART will bring you to both Dalkey and Dun Laoighaire, find a station near your hotel at: http://www.irishrail.ie/travelandstation

Enjoy Dublin,
