Late dinner Friday night, near Fitzwilliam hotel?

Hi,

We're coming to Belfast for the weekend in a fortnight. Train arrives at 9:15pm on Friday, then we need to check in to our hotel, the Fitwilliam, Great Victoria St.

Any suggestions for a really nice dinner at about 9:45 - 10pm, somewhere near the Fitzwilliam?

Thanks!

Most restaurants only appear to be open for dinner until 10pm unfortunately. However here are a few suggestions nearby that *seem* to be open a bit later on Friday nights judging from info I found online but I would double-check with the restaurant itself rather than just rock up and risk disappointment.

Alternatively you could ask the Fitzwilliam how late their restaurant is open - it gets mixed reviews but mostly positive.

Great advice from BridgetJ as ever, their are also some great chinese restaurants like the Sun kee in Donegall Pass. I would give the Fitzy a miss as i had some people on tour, who arrived late and went to the hotel restaurant for dinner, It cost £120 for 2 not a great start to their weekend break.

Thanks Bridget & Bobby. I see that Ginger's (close & recommended) is supposed to be open till ten, so if that's when the kitchen closes, then I reckon we'd make it by then, if the train's on time (it's years since I caught a train in Dublin...). I'll call & ask. otherwise will try some of your suggestions - thanks!

Thanks again guys. Booked James St. South (booked over the internet, my first time with a restaurant!).

Now I need to find a nice place for Saturday - Tedford's, I think.

Any recommendations for cosy pubs thereabout with good beer for relaxing together & people-watching?

Tedfords looks really good, am considering there myself, but, james st south has sentimental memories for us, so we're going for my birthday celebration in feb!!

Plenty of pubs in and around that area, all good for people watching, you'll be spoilt for choice. Just walk around any corner and you'll stumble on a good un' in no time.

have fun. !!

Sounds good - hope you get here on schedule and enjoy your lovely meal - I always hear great things about James St South.

All Belfast pubs will be absolutely packed full on Saturday evenings, so I'm not sure about relaxing per se - to be honest, if you get a table you're one of the lucky ones! But I always enjoy a drink at McHughs - it's one of Belfast's oldest pubs (dating back to 1711) and only a couple of minutes walk from Tedford's. Alternatively you're only a short walk from the Cathedral Quarter, with popular bars like the Duke of York, the John Hewitt, the Cloth Ear, the Spaniard, etc. White's Tavern is another very old bar (this time dating back to 1630!) and also very close by.

Wales4you & BridgetJones, you're marvellous. Thanks. I guess we'll be in the pubs before dinner - and maybe for one or two after dinner if we last the pace! Going to Ginger's for dinner on Saturday, based on Tripadvisor reviews.

Might I ask one more question? Any recommendations for Saturday or Sunday brunch? We've not booked breakfast in the (Fitzwilliam) hotel...
