Hen party in Bath March 2012

Hi, Im organising a hen party in bath in March for 15 people and wanted some advice about where the best bars etc are for saturday night.

The bride prefers bars to clubs but we still want good music and to be able to have a bit of a dance?

Also I gather some places are quite spread out so wondered what suggestions people had about where to have dinner (ideally somewhere reasonable with a good atmosphere and accomodating for large groups) that has some good bars close by for then carrying on to?

Many Thanks, Sarah

The centre of Bath is very compact so the bars aren't really "quite spread out".

There's an All Bar One on High Street and a Browns opposite on Orange Grove; both are next to the Guildhall.

And a short walk up Broad Street you get to George Street where there's Revolution, Slug & Lettuce, Sub 13, Blue Rooms etc.

At the start of Walcot Street, which is around the corner from Broad Street and George Street, is HaHa Bar & Canteen, and further up Walcot Street is Club XL (which is a bit chavvy), and at the far end of Walcot Street is Hudson Bar & Grill.

I understand that the Fez (as I used to know it) at the junction of George Street and Paragon is now called Baroque and might be worth checking out.

To give you a good base on which to drink, check out The Raven.

They have some of the best pies in Bath plus a good range of drinks.

Not a fan of Raven pies, I am afraid - I can cook better than that.

For atmosphere plus reasonably priced trough try the Firehouse Rotisserie, which is very central, and won't mind a noisy party of hens.

For somewhere a bit classier try Woods, David is used to serving parties like yours, and his menu will be more varied.

You will need to book fairly quickly wherever you choose, assuming you want to eat out Friday or Saturday.

The Common Room - that used to be Saville's and is on Saville Row and brings back all the memories of drunken nights out in Bath when I lived down there !!! ;-D

Don't know what it's like now as a place to go and party - but the photo here looks nice !!

Bath is a compact town, everything is walkable, so long as the heels aren't too high,

Another possible place for eating is Green Park Brasserie, which also has live jazz in the evening and takes large groups, www.greenparkbrasserie.com.
