3 days in Bath in May 2012

We are intending to stay 3 days in Bath in May, after 3 days in Cotswolds. We will likely spend a day exploring Bath itself. Would like help planning the other 2 days. We would like to explore the surrounding areas, eg. Lacock, Glastonbury etc. We have a car, so travelling is no problem.

I would take at least one full day to explore Bath and get a feel for the city, and then maybe do day-trips to Wells and Glastonbury (one day) and Lacock, Castle Combe, Avebury/Stonehenge and perhaps Salisbury or Bradford-on-Avon (one day). Other places within easy reach include Stourhead and Bristol, which is only 15 minutes away by train (much further by car).

I would certainly say there is more than enough to keep you in Bath for a entire day.

You could then head from Bath to Wells and have half a day in this lovely little city. The Cathedral is glorious and it is a great place just to wander the cobbled streets and enjoy:

You could then continue on to Glastonbury, the town is nice enough with lots of quirky little shops and cafes, it is well worth walking up to see the Tor, too, as the views are wonderful:

Chedder Gorge is also very impressive whilst in Somerset, so you may want to consider some time there.

I would also recommend Cheddar Gorge. Our family visited us last September and we went to Cheddar - they were all delighted and really enjoyed the trip.

If you have kids go to Longleat Safari Park:

It's about 40min drive from Bath and I'm sure you all will love it. It's an unforgettable experience to see so many animals from all over the world.

And if you don't mind museums you can go and visit Fleet Air Arm Museum, it takes an hour to get there from Bath:

Have a lovely stay in Bath in May!
