London markets - not food, not antiques

I've looked (I think) at most threads about this subject but I'd like an opinion from serious but eclectic shoppers (you know who you are!).

Daughter (26) and I will be in London in mid-march. Daughter is very interested in serious non-traditional shopping if I can put it like that. There's a vintage fashion fair in Primrose Hill on Sunday 18th which we'll probably go to, but after that it's a toss up between Brick Lane (which we have never visited) and Camden (which we have).

My question is: while I know we only have one shot at Brick Lane , as it's only open on a Sunday, is in fact Camden a better bet? I know Camden is at least partially open (and I think I have been) on weekdays, so I was thinking Brick Lane on Sunday then Camden on another day, but am now having second thoughts.

Anyone able to give me some specific advice?

Thank you for your links, but yes, I've seen those. What I'm looking for is personal experiences. Recent personal experiences as I used to live in London, but I feel I am now out of date.

Hard to say without knowing you, but it sounds as though a quick look around both is certainly worthwhile and you might want to stay longer at one or both. Camden seems to be open more and more these days, although it's busier and has more stalls towards the weekdnd - it does advertise itself as 7 days now. As you know London anyway, maybe schedule in trips to both but with a flexible option of going on somewhere else afterwards or not depending on how fascinating you find them?

Thanks.

I suppose what I'm looking for is someone who has been to Camden during the week and can say whether the fact that it is said to be open during the week is in fact true. I mean, Portobello says it's partially open during the week but if you went there looking for antiques on a Tuesday you'd be sorely disappointed.

Yes, I've read everything published online. As I said: I'm looking for personal input. In fact http://camdenlock.net/ is probably more appropriate than looking at camden council's website.

In case this is less than clear: I know Camden market is supposed to be partially open during the week - what I want is an evaluation of what this actually means - 1/4 of the weekend experience, 1/2?

Mid week Camden is still your best best for market. Have not been M - W, but Thursday is a good day there. What month are you going?

I've been to Camden on a Wednesday and it was pretty busy with most things appearing to be open. I've only driven through on Mon/Tues and it did look quieter. I know of a few places that advertise Mon/Tues as their closed days so imo Weds onwards should be OK.
