Short stay car parking on a sunday

We have booked at the Royal albion in brighton on sunday for two nights. Fortunately we have a family member lives about a mile from the centre of Brighton so for the duration of our stay we are going to park near to her house. But we have to check into the hotel which will take us a little while so I wonder if there is any free, or cheap parking not too far away. Have looked at the NCP car parks close by and frankly their prices are outrageous. You would think that the hotel would have some short term arrangements so that guests can check in without having to haul their bags from a multi storey car park. Wish we had checked this out before we booked, although I suspect that this problem applies to many hotels near the centre.

wish there was!

sadly you wont find any free on street parking until either 6pm or 8pm anywhere near there. But you don't need to use an NCP, there are parking pay & display bays not far from the hotel, might cost you a couple of quid for an hour or so...if you can get a space....

Also, apparently parking at the train Station is a fiver all day Sundays, not all that far to walk, if you don't have heavy bags.

Some Brighton bus services run late and if it's in one of their zones, may it be simpler to take the bus?

Probably go straight to our family member, park the car up and let the hotel know we'll be late checking in rather than have the aggro.
