My husband has a business meeting in Brighton in May and we were hoping to stay overnight the preceding night somewhere lovely, groovy (as we're leaving the kids at home and want to feel a little bit young again) and relaxing. I know that's a lot to ask for in one request, but Brighton does seem to have a wealth of hotels and guesthouses up for the offering and I never really trust photos on websites as rooms can be quite a disappointment in size and arrangement when you get there ... we've been considering Seaspray penthouse as my husband has seen this hotel on tv and liked the theming of their groovier rooms - but is the penthouse just a glorified loft space or is it worth the stairs? I've also looked into blanch house, greys, guest and the city and drakes (Drakes might be pushing the boat out a bit as we would want Breakfast but don't want the better value DB&B they offer, I've already booked Gingerman for dinner).
Please help! Advice and insider tips welcome ... We do know Brighton pretty well - the meeting the next day is north of Kemptown, so I'm happy to stick around that area but also know that the Gingerman is the other side of the pier.
