 Newquay in mid-late Oct
Destination Expert   What's this?
for Brighton

A bunch of us are considering coming down for a bit of a weekend getaway, maybe surf school, quad biking and such like.

But we want lively night-life, what's it like in October? still busy or like a ghost town?

what else should we be thinking of doing to kill some spare time during the days?

I would have thought that Newquay will still be busy as people, of course, live there all year round but I think that one of the Cornwall Destination Experts would know better than I do as I really can only comment on St Ives.

I am sure if you are able to wait a little bit longer than you have done then you will get a reply. I think everyone may have been a wee bit busy with other things. There isn't the same sense of urgency about things in Cornwall, life is less frantic, that's not to say that things aren't efficient though. As it won't be as busy as during the peak season, you will have plenty of accommodation to choose from even if you book quite late. Just check whether the dates you have in mind clash with half term though because, if they do, it could be very busy indeed but not in the way you might want.

Thats probably not the best way to get a good response. Surprising for a DE to post that.

I'm with you on this Badcat, to post late on a Sunday evening and demand a reply by 19:00 the next day is surprising to me - I've been sleeping, travelling to and from work and working and although I know Suzi was defending the forum saying life here is "less frantic' this is not how I would always describe my lifestyle. Maybe it seems that way when you are on holiday but believe me when you live here, for the majority of us, life is just as frantic as anywhere else, unless you live in Port Wenn of course ;-)

Hi Coxei

You hit the nail on the head, I was trying to be diplomatic. I know that people in Cornwall have loads to do like everyone else and have to run around to get it all done. Somehow though, the Cornish peeps always seem more relaxed and chilled though than people from elsewhere in the UK.

I agree with all that you have said though. Of course, you should all be available 24/7 to answer forum postings immediately!

Well I have to say that I do agree with everything that has been said. I think you have more or less sorted your daytime activities, quad biking & surfing. All night clubs and pubs are open during the winter months especially at weekends, the only thing different, there wont be as much trouble, that comes with the tourists.

You don't say if you have transport or how long you will be staying. If you an let us know A.S.A.P. please and we will try to furnish you with anymore information you may. require.
