Bimini forum Me and my girlfriend were thinking about spending a short stay in Bimini this summer as we liked the idea of the small size of the island, un-built up/touristy and easy to explore and also there are cheap flights from Ft. Lauderdale.
However, the other week I found a video on Youtube from 2007 saying they were planning major resort development on the island. Has this gone through, what is it like now?

You're probably talking Bimini Bay Resort - it's located at the north end of the island. http://www.biminibayresort.com/
The resort is beautiful. Very large, well spaced out, beautiful beaches and the water is gorgeous. You will see dolphins and sting rays swimming at dusk off the beach and the scuba diving is great! I think they just started a ferry to and from Miami - or if it hasn't been launched yet it will be soon. While the resort is fairly built up it isn't overcrowded and the rest of the island is very "un-touristy". Definitely try the Bimini Bread from a local bakery and drive to the end of the north island to watch the sunset by the wrecked ship. Stuart's conch shack is a favorite of mine. You will also want to rent a golf cart to get around.
