 Looking for honeymoon advice

When I started my honeymoon search, I never thought of St. Lucia. But it looks beautiful, and I think it's my leading choice. I'm leaning towards the Sandals resorts (for now I think La Toc). I have a few questions:

1. How is the trip from the airport? I've read it's a long drive.

2. What kinds of excursions are nearby? I'd like to see the Pitons, what would be the best way to do that?

3. What kind of night time activities are at the Sandals resorts?

If anybody has any general comments about why or why not the Sandals in St. Lucia I'd be happy to hear any advice!

La Toc is about 75 minutes from the airport. Sandals is a good choice - stay at 1, play at all 3. Definitely take a tour down the west coast to Soufriere - try to get one that goes by sea and returns by land. I'd also suggest checking out Pigeon Island and if you like ziplining, head to Treetop Adventure Park which can be combined with a trip to see and swim in a nearby waterfall.

Definitely don't let the drive from the airport discourage you. It's a fine drive and depending upon the rime of day you arrive, there are some sights along the way. It goes by quickly and believe me, it's worth the drive!

Destination Expert   What's this?
for St. Lucia

La Toc is about 1.15 hours from the UVF airport in the south. You can take the included Sandals shuttle, book a private car or take the helicopter. The helicopter transfers you from the southern (UVF) to the northern (SLU) airport, then you can catch a cab or arrange with Sandals for their transfer - it is about 15-20 minutes from SLU.

There are loads of excursions available all around the island: land/sea tours to soufriere and the Pitons, zipliing tours, waterfall tours, rum distillery tour, etc. You can check out the tours offered by Sandals right on the Sandals website - along with prices. If those look to expensive or what not- -they at least give you an idea of what is available - then you can come on here and look at private tour providers.

As for nightlife, there is a lot of discussion on these boards - theme nights, such as beach BBQ with fire dancers, etc. street party, chocolate night, etc. all happen at the resort. The schedule changes every so often for which night is which - there is also the late night bar open.

Enjoy your visit and congrats on the upcoming wedding!

One thing I would point out is that most of the amazing scenery is in the Soufriere area and the West Coast. In the north you can go to Pigeon island which is just a short walk from the Sandals Grande.
