 Few ?'s about Gran Bahia

I see that they have catamarans available. Are you able to hire one of the staff to take you out & if so what is the rate? We recently did this at IB Rose Hall Beach and really enjoyed it.

Also, I know that the safe has a daily charge & isn't included in our package. Many have mentioned a $50 deposit as well. Do you know if this is something that they expect in cash or credit card? I don't normally use my credit card in Jamaica but I am wondering if anyone has paid cash for the deposit & had an issue w/the deposit being returned to them at the end of their stay.

Thanks in advance for the info!

***Bump****

& an additional question......

If you are not Golden Club what is the restaurant reservation system like? Do they allow you to book multiple days at one time or only for that particular day? Are there specific hours that you need to line up to make the reservations & if so where in the resort is this done? I LOVE resorts that use a pager system vs reservations but it just isn't happening on this trip. We have 10 people in our group so I am sure that we will need to break our group into 2 tables if we are fortunate enough to get in to the ala cartes.

The charge for the safe isn't due until the end of your stay, there is no deposit that I am aware of. The only "extra" fee was an "eco" charge of $6.00 which I believe is optional.

You can make all your reservation's at once if you like. I emailed ahead to customer service through their website and made our reservation's beforehand, that way no wasted time at the resort. They will do whatever they can to seat you together, doubt it will be an issue with ten.

1bflogrl - since you just got back from Gran Bahia, I have some questions -

housekeeping - did you have the turn down service and if so, was it a different person from the day shift? Is there an envelope for tips? Room service - if you used it - how does it work? Do you call the night before to order juice, coffee etc for breakfast? Thanks !

Turn down service was a different maid. We just left tips on the bed daily We only were in the diamond club area so we did not have room service. Fellow travelers got the safe and put down a $50 cash deposit and were refunded the remaining $$ upon checkout any other questions feel free to ask. Haven't written my review yet. I will today.

Sorry " ilovethebeach " I was thinking I was in a different forum when I answered your post. We stayed at the GBP " Tulum " a couple of weeks ago. BUT, if you go to Gran Bahia's website they offer contact email's for customer service at their resort's. That is what I used for our Mexico trip, should work the same for Jamaica.
