Runaway Bay Forum: Just how bad is the chair situation at the Gran Bahia?

well if you are posting you are concerned ,, you will like this story, last year in Cuba we experienced this "towel" game" and you know what the resort did - they did the big sweep - yup we watched staff come along in the early morning and take all towels already booking their chairs and took them to the front desk - and since you need to return these towels - you had to go to the front desk to get them back - yes this was funny to sit back and watch = and folks it was people from all countries! - I guess the staff were sick and tired of listening to all the complaints so they took action and the best part was the folks coming late that morning expecting to have their usual "spot"

While at the Bahia last year we noticed that the towel game was more so at the pool than the beach. People were still able to get chairs at 10 am at the beach.

We were in Mexico last year and people were putting out their towels at the pool before 6 a.m. We noticed that people put them at even at midnight ! We were able to get as many towels as we wanted at the pool, but my daughter who was at gran bahia last year, told me this isn't so. Why don't resorts put out more chairs at the pool? This would solve a lot of problems. We're going to GBP in March and we're looking forward to it - towels or no towels ! P.S. the towel game is also "played" on cruise ships as well.

No better no worse than any other Caribbean hotel. If you want a particular spot then play the game, if you're not bothered, then there are plenty of chairs to be found after breakfast.

my solution to this dilema is as follows......

the towel owner has "saved" the chair with their towel.....so move their chair and put yours in that spot. thus they still have their saved chair.
