Negril Forum: Ochos Rios or Negril

just from what I gathered from google earth is the beach

Ocho is more like bays and Negril (7 mile) is a stretch of ocean/beach not so much a bay I'm also thinking in a lot of places (granted, depending on resort) it's more rocky/coral

but I'd like to know more too hopefully someone with some experince will answer soon! :)

We stayed at Couples Sans Souci once, Duncans once and Negril three times. Major difference is the beach. Seems that Ocho is more a place of cliffs and bays. Negril is a beach that goes on and on. With a cliff area.

Thanks. I have narrowed my decision down to visiting Negril. I like the fact that everything is pretty much either on that one long beach or on the cliffs. This way I can enjoy as I see fit without having too much difficulties.

Now onto finding a suitable beachfront hotel within a poor girl's budget.

Ocho Rios is more town - nightclubs, not as nice of beaches, but closer to larger tours and activities for tourists -

Negril is a beautiful seven mile long beach, cliffs with beautiful sunset views, more live music than club,.....

Lots of options for a poor girls budget - look at the map on negrilinfo.com

I think I answered on another thread of yours. Look at Charela Inn for the beach or Le Mirage for the cliffs.

I would look at Negril Beach Club, Travelers, Footprints, Fun Holiday, Seawind, ........

I have visited both Ocho Rios (Jan 2010) and Negril (March 2011), and loved both. The biggest difference for us was the weather. It seems the Ocho Rios / Runway Bay area has much more rain than Negril, due to the location of the mountains. We are heading back to Negril again this March, it won't come soon enough! I hope you enjoy where ever you decide :)
