Guama Forum: Hotel Guama ?????

I have been apart of a movement lately to have the sub-forums dwindled down to around 15 from the current 43 or whatever it is. There seems to be too many. Some sub-forums only get one posting every 2 months. Even the Santiago de Cuba section gets somewhat slow during non-touristy seasons. I am not sure why all of Santiago de Cuba isn't just one forum. I'll have to contact bellagio again to see if he wants to work on this.

By the way CQ, last January while driving out to Sierra Mar, we passed by this quite large hotel that was perched up on a hill. I asked the hombre taxi driver what it was and he said that it was a Cuban hotel mainly for Cuban gov't personal. I wish that I could remember the name but I am sure that it was not the elusive hotel Guama that is supposed to be in that area. I am interested if I can find any info on it on the internet.

No, CW I don't think it's the elusive hotel Guama either....ha...ha.... The info I have on it shows as Motel Guama a hotel for Cubans. It's a little place which sits on top of a headland 2 kms. east of Chivirico. With small villas which sit on stilts on the hillside looking over the bay. It definitely, is not in the mangroves like the Hotel Guama - Varadero. What I found on it last was that it was closed. I wonder if someone who frequents this area of Chivirico can confirm this for us and TA. CQ :))))

CW......I agree about having the subforums dwindled down. For the 2 hotels (Los Galeones & Brisas Sierra Mar) they should be put back into Santiago de Cuba. A lot of times people going there go on the Santiago de Cuba Forum anyways. Also I couldn't believe that they actually have the small town of El Cobre as a sub forum. CQ :))))

Just curious, do you think that there should be a Santiago city forum and a Santiago province forum? A Santiago forum and a Chivrico forum? Or leave it the way it is now?

I was told that that hotel on the hill was for Cuban military personel and perhaps goverment people. It was still opened last year a couple of girls from the family we know in the village just outside of Sierra Mar work there.
