A dog who touched many hearts, myself included and sadly missed on this past trip. He always is part of any conversation I have with fellow travellers regarding Los Galeones.

He also performed a valuable service that is now evident. The goats have taken over the beach and are leaving their droppings everywhere. The chickens are becoming very bold and even the crabs on the beach don't retreat as quickly into their burrows.

There is a female offspring of Lovie - she looks and acts like him, working the new bar and restaurant at the foot of the hill. Brisas should give her a contract.

Did you say new bar and restaurant at base of hill ? Do you mean at the foot of the hill on the road up the LG, or is it at the bottom of the stairs at the beach?

Details please. Any other refurbishments at LG?

The restaurant is on the road right at the base of the hill. It's privately run by someone who used to work at Sierra Mar. It serves food and drinks and is popular with locals and tourists. It is also incredibly affordable to us. 1/4 chicken lunch for 4 with soup and 2 sides was less than 10 cuc and 7 of that was for the Cristal.

The road is the worst I have seen it in over 10 years. There were few if any cabs available and no shuttle to SM. It took 50 minutes to reach Sierra Mar by bus when we left. Rumour is that repairs start in January. 2011?

There is a new disco near the plaza in town that broadcasts booming bass all day long when the power is on. When the power goes off the new generator at LG kicks in. It is also loud and the power was off a lot.

While we were there all the guests developed stomach issues. Mostly just diarrhea, looseness and minor cramps but a couple of them were quite sick for a day or so. Bismuth tablets helped us.

Not much else new since we were last there two years ago. Same staff.

Sunsets and mountains are still spectacular.

There's a ball missing from the pool table.

Somebody who shall remain nameless on this forum has requested an electronic luggage scale.

Those road repairs were rumours in 2003, 04, 05, 06 etc. LOL. They did some road work a couple of years ago did they not?

Tummy troubles. That sucks. Wonder what that's all about?

Re luggage scale, are there shenanigans going on at SCU airport?

He believes the vendors in the town market are overcharging on pork etc. Not necessarily dishonest but using inaccurate scales.

He saw me weigh our bags and thought the luggage scales would clear things up at the market. PM me if you want the name.

Off the subject a bit but I agree with smokey 66. Heading to SM in Feb for 10th time have heard rumors every year about work on the road yes they did do some work a couple of years ago but improvement did not last long. Have been over to Los Galeones for dinner a couple of times and loved it would like to go again but the road is just too much to take would also like to try the restaurant. A few bad reports on SM lately but we have never been disappointed. Sorry to hear about Lovie I know all the repeat guests will miss him-(Her)?
