1.5 hrs needs a reply this is because of the road or lack there of

Rumors from last year indicates they were to repair the road in April. If the road is fixed it will cut the time in half The resort is only 60k from airport Have not heard anything yet as the resort only opened first of Nov. Looking forward to a post from someone who has been there this year.

That would be to the Santiago de Cuba airport.... not Holguin

You can count on much longer than 1.5 hrs from Holguin

It takes about 4 hrs. The last distance from Santiago de Cuba (2 hrs) is a horror. Do not forget Gravol.

We were just there Dec.26 and we met a couple that came from Holguin. It was to be a 4 hour bus ride..... they took a taxi and got there in 3.5 hours...

The ride from Holguin is about 4-5 hours. From the Holguin Airport to Santiago de Cuba is about 2.5 hours. Some on a 2 lane highway through the lowlands where the sugar cane grows and then starting up through the SIerra Maestra Mountains. You will then travel on the Auto Pista which is 4 lane higway. It seems l long but it really is a beautiful ride. THEN you come out of the city of Santiago towards Sierra Mar and it is the last 60km that is very slow going because of the roads. The drivers are very good and try to avoid the dirt ruts as much as they can - but do prepare for a bumpy ride. The countryside is beautiful. Their is a little a outside bar at the Holguin Airport - I suggest you pick up a bottle of water or something to drink for the ride.
