 crystal cove

Husband and myself travelling to Barbados next Friday and staying at Crystal Cove (little bit worried after reading the latest review !! ).

Just wondering if anyone knows if beach / pool towels are supplied by the Hotel ?? Also are toiletries supplied ?? Believe that Folkestone beach is good for snorkelling, is this near to Crystal Cove ? We were in Barbados last year and stayed at Dover Beach, which was fab, and had a good night at Oistins at the Friday fish fry. Would it be possible to go to Oistins by bus from Crystal Cove, or is it too far ? Any other hints would be great, haven't stayed on the west coast before.

Many thanks, Christine

Hi we stayed at Crystal Cove a few years ago - they did supply both beach towels & toiletries then but if you email the hotel directly they can confirm up to date info

I think you would have to get two buses - one to Bridgetown then one to Oistins or a taxi would be approx 80 BDS or more

There isnt much around Crystal Cove but it is on the main road into Holetown so buses /taxis are easy to get. We were in a garden view room and didnt hear any road noise and had a view of the sea too :)

It only takes approx 10 -15 mins by bus into Holetown - Surfside bar is right on the beach and has steel pan on a Sunday or there is the street party in 1st/2nd St as well.

If they still have the free water taxi between Colony Club & Tamarind make use of it LOL it is a lovely way to see the coastline and Paynes Bay where Tamarind is is lovely and the beach at Colony Club was too - also from CC it is only a few mins walk into Holetown from there. You could use all the facilities at these though meals & drinks you had to pay for but got a discount and you could book these to your room at Crystal Cove if you didnt want to carry money with you. Check with the hotel when you arrive if they still have the same arrangement.

The nearest bar to Crystal Cove was Scarletts - not cheap but a great cocktail bar that does light meals .

IWe found the hotel very quiet in the evenings and so went out most nights, but that could have been just at that time. .

They do have a fish fry up at Moontown - but it is not on the same scale as Oistins and just mainly kareoke as entertainment - food was good at Mertons though .

Hope this helps

Just wondering if anyone knows if beach / pool towels are supplied by the Hotel ?? --- Yes

Also are toiletries supplied ?? --- Yes

Believe that Folkestone beach is good for snorkelling, is this near to Crystal Cove ? --- Yes, it's a 10-15 minute bus ride to Folkestone Marine Park. Take ANY bus travelling North outside Crystal Cove and you'll be there in no time.

Would it be possible to go to Oistins by bus from Crystal Cove, or is it too far ? ---- No, it's not too far. It's a simple 30-40 min bus ride from Appleby, St. James to Oistins. Just to go to TO CITY bus stop and take any bus marked OISTINS, SAM LORDS CASTLE, KIRTONS or AIRPORT. These will all take you to Oistins for just $2 BBD one-way. The last bus leaves Oistins at 12:30am for Speightstown and they run every 30 mins all day from 5:30am.

Just to add, there isn't any nightlife around Crystal Cove so you'll need to head down to Holetown for your nearest good nightlife.

Hi

HAVE A GOOD TIME!

the last poster does not respond to PM messages so maybe that tells us all about the last reviewWe visited Crystal cove last time we were in Barbados and staying at Turtle beach and are going to crystal cove in March. We recognise Crystal beach is low key but also we will use the local bus into holetown , bridgetown and speights town. We were not fans of St lawrence Gap on our last visit!

Enjoy and looking forward to your report
