 Best gifts to bring?

We will be returning to Barbados next month for a visit and will be reuniting with some people we met last time we were there. Do you have any suggestions about what type of gifts would be best to bring in from the States? I am wondering what items may be hard to find or very expensive in Barbados.

Thanks in advance.

How about Godiva chocolates or locally made specialty chocolate? I live in Maine, so I also thought a small bottle of real maple syrup, a balsam sachet, or some blueberry soap? Maybe a good bottle of Canadian whiskey?

locally made speciality chocolate would be good as would the Maine goods...chocolate is available in Barbados but it is very expensive, I would go with the local goods...maybe even some local cranberry goodies .skip the Canadian whiskey as it can't hold a candle to the Bajan rum..lol...(.maybe an LLBean catalogue too...lol)

Actually, great ideas! From Maine it would be Dunkin' Donuts coffee, but I can have lobsters packed in a carry-on with ice packs and they stay alive for at least 24 hours. I don't know if they would make it through customs, though. How about whoopie pies? I don't think they have those in Barbados.

ScubaNanny

You can only take the lobsters packed with ice through security as long as there are no liquids present by the time you clear security. Customs in Barbados is a different story. You'd need a import certificate from the Ministry of Agriculture to legally bring it in... and unless you know someone here who could get it for you, there's a slight risk in bringing lobsters in.

We don't have whoopie pies, but we have Oreo Cakesters, albeit a bit pricy.

Regards
