Hi there

The season kicks off full time in early May although most resorts don't start to get really busy until June. Nine days could be plenty of time or not enough, hopefully you'll get lucky on both the job and accommodation fronts within your time. Do bear in mind that there is always stiff competition for seasonal work from other Brits, as well as local Greeks and immigrant workers.

There's no airport on Ios so I assume you have actually booked a one way flight to Athens or to a neighbouring Cycladic island? Certainly no need to prebook ferry tickets in May, it's really only July/August that it's best to prebook.

if you keep checking www.gtp.gr then it will eventually give you the times of ferries from piraeus to ios.the may schedules are not out yet apart from blue star ferries and unfortunately, their service to ios seems to stop from february !

For a job you can try on this website: www.greeka.com, but now is a little early, i think. And for ferry - greekferries.forth-crs.gr/english/npgres.exe… , this i use every year when i planned my holiday. Good luck! Alina.

Ferries:

Schedules may not give the answer to ferries for Ios, sometimes the Bluestar ferries only call in to Ios on the way back from Santorini, or may drop the stop at Ios. Either way, any ferry to Paros should enable a connection to be made the same day. Ferries may take around 9 hours to Ios, ½ the time if there is fast one. There are not that many ferries from Piraeus to Ios in May, realistically it's only one per day.
