 Tony Roma's?

It has been a few years since we first went to Playa Fanabe and we go again next month - staying at Sunwing Resort. Can anyone tell me if there is a Tony Roma's restaurant in the resort?

Also, we have friends also staying in the area at the same time as us and are looking for a good restaurant to suggest meeting them at. Any suggestions welcome!

Thank you very much! Tony Roma's is a favourite of ours when in the USA. Not had great experiences in Europe but it would be rude not to give it a try as it is on the doorstep! Will look into Othellos too.

Thanks for your offer. Our friends are staying in an apartment - Benimar Residencia - I think about 15/20 minutes or so away from where we will be. I want to suggest a couple of restaurants to meet them at, so grateful for any advice/recommendations!

Hi, we went in Tony Romas a couple of years ago (Not long after it opened) and I would definatly NOT recommend it, we had to wait ages (almost 1 hour) for the food even though the restaurant was quiet, and there were just 2 adults & 1 child in our party, we were on the verge of giving up and finding somewhere else to eat, but as we have had good food in their places before we stuck it out. When the food came it was almost cold !!! I have been in lots of Tony Roma restaurants in the U.S, Canada and Europe and this one fell below their usual high standard, so much so that we have never bothered going back again. Perhaps it has improved since we went, but I personally wouldnt bother finding out.

Hi Mre V32,

Couerr de fillet - (IN CC Fanabe) Great steaks and pasta

Monte Christo - (Fanabe) As above, albeit a wee bit more expensive

Sebastions - In the Sunset Bay complex, near Esmarelda Playa Hotel.. Don't be put off by the surroundings, food is excellent, probably our favourite!

Azulon - In Torviscas Alto (you will need a taxi) 7 course, 28 Euro tasting menu, something a bit different. Fantastic views from the terrace over the whole resort. Nice to chill out on before your meal.

Chinese - Wouldn't recommend any in the area, however there are a few great ones within a 7/8 Euro taxi ride

Indian - As above

Spanish - As above.

Tapas - As above. Worth getting a 7/8 Euro taxi to the San Telmo area.

Hope this helps.

I would agree with most of what is on Bob's list above, they only thing I would disagree on is the Chinese and I think after Slowboat 2 in San Telmo (every eatery in this strip is excellent) my favourite is Pekin Palace which is next to Amanda's bar (so along from the Esmeralda Hotel) and the Torviscas Real Tandoori which is on the sea front on the level above McDonalds. Nothing to look at but great food.

Tony Romas - not a great favourite of mine although it is on our list of places to eat whenever my grand-daughter comes on holiday so a bit of a tradition now. Food always good but very 'touristy' and expensive for what it is. - We only use the on by the La Siesta in PdlA.

Fatbob:

Azulon looks beautiful but too many 'fishy things' on the menu for my liking!

Booked for Sebastian's though, looking forward to it! :) :)

Hi,

Azulons menu changes every couple of days so its maybe worth another look nearer the time.

Thanks for all recommendations! I will take these with me and hopefully will eat well during my holiday. As for my initial question re Tony Roma's, reading your responses, I just may give it a miss. Will probably have a look in and decide when I am there. Thanks again.
