Oroquieta City, Mindanao to Tagbilaran, Bohol

Has anyone travelled from Oroquieta City on Mindanao to Tagbilaran or Jagna on Bohol, the short way 'round?

There are a multitude of ways I know, and they're all too circuitous so I'm hoping that there's a ferry or flight from the north-western corner of Mindanao to Tagbilaran or Jagna on Bohol.

And yes, I've ploughed through the various sites with ferries and plane flights and have not found anything that makes economic and time sense so I'm hoping someone out there in tripadvisorland has done this trip and can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for any advice and or help.

Cheers,

MacInOz

that will depend on your date of travel as far as i know the nearest dept point going to bohol is cagayan de oro where there is fast craft to bohol via camiguin or soon there will be flights from cdo to bohol with midsea express. so most likely u will get bus to ozamis ,ferry, bus to cdo maybe 6 hr trip. this map will show the route …blogspot.com/2010/07/maps-of-mindanao-islan…

I have been to Oroquieta City but have not tried to travel from there to Tagbilaran.

I personally would travel from Ozamiz City to Cebu City in a presidential suite on Transasia then travel on the Supercat to Bohol.

However, if I had no interest in Cebu City, I believe I would travel by bus to Dapitan then OceanJet to Tagbilaran

oceanjet.net/schedule.php…

In case you don't know what the OceanJet is, they have seats similar to airline seats but they don't recline. Well they don't recline in economy anyway. They serve meals and snacks, cheap by western standards but expensive by Filipino standards and they show movies on large screen TV's.

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Philippines, Bandar Seri Begawan

Take a bus to Dipolog City then fly to Cebu City via Cebu Pacific Air. From Cebu City take a fast ferry to Tagbilaran City.

Thank you to you all for the responses.

It looks like we've found the best way for us to do the hop.

It's with http://oceanjet.net and they have a ferry from Dapitan to Tagbilaran for AUD20 (PHP900)

Perfect, for us!

Jim, we ended up driving from Oroquieta to Dapitan (cost P3700) to catch the Ocean Jet ferry.

We ended up choosing business class, the one with reclining aircraft style seats and more legroom than most aircraft, for P1500 (~A$35 at the current exchange rate) each.

It took 2.5 hours to get from Dapitan to Dumaguete, with a 15 minute stop, and then 1.5 hours to Tagbilaran.

Calm seas helped make the trip a great option.

Thanks to all the tripadvisors that offered their knowledge beforehand.
