Jet 2 - Who else NEVER gets seated together?!

I'm getting a bit fed up with Jet 2 & wondered if everyone else has the same with the seating.. 2 people should be easy enough to seat together, however on both flights we are split by several rows, forcing us to pay for seats together & unable to change just one seat but have to move both.

Last year I thought this was unfortunate as there were 3 of us travelling, but now I seem to think it's just another money making exercise.

How many of you have actually been seated together??

I have another flight booked with them too - if I hadn't already booked it I'd be looking at another carrier, as these 'low budget' flights don't seem to be so low budget anymore!!

I also used points on a flight this time, and don't seem to have saved much really! Views??

I've just emailed them, wonder if I'll get a response..

I'm curious. Will the world end if you don't sit together. There seem to be more important things to get concerned with! If sitting together is that important--then pay up!

We are willing to pay the money to be seated together.

If you want to sit together then pay. If it doesn't matter to you, then don't. I'm more than happy to pay ÂŁ7 each a seat!

I doubt that an airline would deliberately split up people checking in together unless they really had no choice.

Do you leave it very late to get to check-in?

We've never paid for 'seats together' and have never been separated except across the aisle.

As someone else has said, if you want to sit together you can pay to do so.

I have 'paid up', it's just the principal of it I'm talking about & I have checked in 27 days before departure so not late

I was just curious to see if this was commonplace, not looking for dull sarcasm.

"I doubt that an airline would deliberately split up people checking in together unless they really had no choice."

Maybe I'm being cynical but I don't find that too hard to believe. It's a (slightly dodgy IMO) way to encourage people to pay for seats in advance. That's not to say Jet2 is doing it, I've got no idea.

Yes it has happened to me on other airlines, but not on Jet2. I have no issue whatsoever if airlines choose to charge extra for a seat.

Why the pointed remark regarding other peoples' replies? You asked a question and others have replied - just because they don't agree with you it isn't sarcasm. If you do feel so strongly about paying it then no one is forcing you to.

I/we fly Jet2 to Europe from Manchester at least once a year but also fly Monarch Scheduled and easyJet (the latter from Liverpool). When I fly alone I usually take pot luck with the seat I am allocated but when we are together I pay for seats together mainly because herself prefers not to sit next to strangers after some previous unpleasant experiences eg b.o. and armrest hogging.

I also think she relies on me to buy her expensive onboard drinks and if we were rows apart it's not as easy!

Btw MrsWS likes Jet2 because of the 22kgs hold bag weight limit which is 50% above the norm with no frills carriers.Especially useful on 2 week holidays out of season..

I'd have thought it would be more hassle for check-in staff to find 2 seats separately than 2 seats together for 2 pax checking in together.

Additionally, wouldn't that cause more hassle for cabin crew with people asking if they can be found 2 seats together?

We flew Monarch long haul and we deliberately requested centre aisle seats (3-3-3- format) one behind the other i.e. 12D 13D or 12F 13F as we find we are not usually disturbed this way and we can get up whenever we want without disturbing anyone else.

Cabin crew tried to move us to be together until we explained we'd actually requested those seats.
