  "There are only a few restaurants in Volcano so when we saw Lava Rock Café we were skeptical. It shares a small parking lot with general store, gas pumps, and a quilt shop. Others had teriyaki beef and mahi mahi. There were traditional sides like mac salad and sticky rice or fries. The steamed veggies were not soggy which is a miracle for most restaurants. The taro dinner rolls definitely added a touch of Hawaii. Don't be put off by the diner-ish look of the place. It is the best place to eat on your visit to Volcanoes Nat'l Park. There were lots off families. Every inch of the place was covered in some sort of Thai decoration which made it fun and bright. The prices were reasonable and there is ample parking.
