The hostess was less than hospitable. seemed appalled we didnt have a reservation even though as I mentioned above there were only 2 other couples inside. The waiter was average...." Unenthusiastic and lukewarm at best. The food on the other hand was awesome. Had linguini and clam sauce and was probably the best I have ever had. Calamari was fresh and delicious. The salad we had was dynamite as well. The wine list is exceptional. Nice setting but I felt the vibe to be pretentious even though ownership claims the opposite. Great Italian in Siesta Key.   "I had dinner with 12 of my friends at Dolce Italia and all of us were very impressed. The place is on the small side but they put a number of tables together to accommodate us. There are only 20 items on their menu but there were six specials and the "Dessert del giorno" turned out to be five desser..."ts choices. The prices are reasonable the portion sizes generous. The service was fantastic. They were even willing to split the bill nine ways instead of a single check! Our server Alex was personable and did a great job waiting on us and trying to keep us entertained. He had plenty of assistance from the rest of the staff (one whom i am sure is the owner) . There was never an empty water glass and Alex poured almost every wine. The lasagna was delicious (better than two of the three lasagnas I had in Italy) but the crown jewel was the tiramisu. OMG! It took me back to Patisserie Sandri in Perugia. So good. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Dolce Italia. " More >
