"Went for lunch on mother's day. As we entered we noticed they had a brunch, not mentioned when we made the reservation. We got there at 2:30 pm and asked if we could order from the regular menu. Which we were able to do. We had Filet mignon, Pepper Crusted Sirloin Steak, Parmissan Crusted Sole and a..." Kid's Burger. The food was great, but maybe because of the location and the date, the dress code left something to be desired. The service was fine, but by thevtime we were finishing, they started to preparecthe restaurant for dinner, something I did not appreciate.

"Mama's ceviche, made with lime cured fish, tomato, cilantro, radish, jicama, mango, and cucumber for $9 at Happy Hour ($16 during regularly) is a fresh citrusly medley of ingredients. We added some of the pickled relish from the table to perk it up with some jalapeno, but for those who want no heat,..." it is good by itself. The accompanying chips are made from the handmade tortillas, so they can be addictive.
The Baja taco was the best fish tacos I've ever eaten. Period. For $4 at Happy Hour or $12 (for three) on the regular menu, the beer batter dipped and fried cod with slaw, crema, salsa, and aji sauce was the perfect combination of soft, crunchy, warm, creamy, and spicy (if you add the sauce served on the side). If anyone you know does not like fish or tacos, I would bet that after a bite of this taco they would change their minds (and I'm not a gambler).
I had the Herb and Garlic Basted Game Hen for $18, made with achiote, tomato, thyme, rosemary, arroz ajillo, with a side (I...

"One of the few non-Japanese joints on this section of Sawtelle, Plan Check is a welcome addition to the area.
With a limited menu of pub food, it's not for the health conscious. The food is terrific however. The burger was one of the better ones I have had in a long time. The "Pig Candy" is divin..."e.
I found the beer selection to be a little limited (only one IPA) and I would like to see them make an effort to offer a whiskey selection (not that LA needs another Bourbon bar but it goes with the menu). I did not try one of their signature cocktails but some of them looked inspired.
The biggest negative for me was the tiny sized snacks. I'd rather they make bigger snacks and charge more instead of having to get multiple orders. The pickle plates are literally two or three pickled things. The beer nuts are essentially a handful of nuts in small bowl. The cheese order is a single square. They all tasted good but even for two you would want to get multiple orders of each and it adds ...
